Dr. Shannon Chelsvig was born in Missouri and moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, in the first grade.
In eighth grade, she relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where she has lived ever since. She currently resides in Bellevue.
Dr. Chelsvig attended high school at Hume-Fogg and earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Wyoming, majoring in Animal and Veterinary Science with a Pre-Veterinary concentration and minoring in Business. She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at the University of Illinois.
Her passion for veterinary work began early, as she started volunteering at animal shelters and helping on her aunt's cattle farm in first grade. Throughout her undergraduate and veterinary school years, she continued gaining hands-on experience by working as a veterinary technician and volunteering with a cat rescue in Laramie.
Dr. Chelsvig has a basset hound named Rosie and is actively involved in fostering dogs through Big Fluffy Dog Rescue. In her free time, she enjoys swimming with a masters swim team, reading, hiking, white water rafting, and traveling. A fun fact about Dr. Chelsvig is that she swam collegiately on a scholarship at the University of Wyoming.
